Run for Rover
The 2008 Run for Rover is set for Sunday, July 13 at LaSalle Park, Buffalo.
It will include a 1 mile walk with pets, a 5 kilometer run for people, prizes, dog washing, animal welfare / provider information, refreshments and more!
Prizes will be available from Animal Outfitters for the best-dressed and best owner pet look-alike contests. Fleet Feet will be giving out gift certificates to runners drawn at random.
The first 150 pets will receive pet tag/race medals, and non-alcoholic canine Bowser Beer will be on sale as will be canine ice cream.
Also, caricature artists, face painters, pet psychic, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and hopefully live music will be present. It is going to be big. Time to be announced.
Buffalo's Dog Park in Lasalle Park (buffOLA) is opening a new, improved and safer off leash area dog park in Lasalle park on July 13th.
Entry forms will be sent to NFVS offices soon and will be available at the PEF website (www.PetEmergencyFund.org) for downloading.

Fundraising for the Buffalo Zoo Hospital
Thanks for your support of this program. Here's a recap of what it was all about.
The NFVS and the Western New York Veterinary Medical Association have come together to help the Buffalo Zoo modernize its hospital. Approximately $1,000,000 is needed to expand and modernize the Zoo’s hospital to maintain American Zoological Association standards. When the current Zoo hospital was built in 1967, it was considered state-of-the-art, but medical standards for quarantine and aseptic surgery have changed. Improvements in the Zoo’s hospital will allow it to continue to operate within AZA guidelines and work to improve endangered animal conservation.
From March to September 2007 the NFVS and WNYVMA are conducing a capital campaign. It is being coordinated with the Zoo to generate the million dollars required to give the Zoo’s animals the same level of medical care that our pets receive.
Donations will be collected through over 100 local veterinary hospitals by a variety of ways including mail in envelopes, donations directly through the hospitals, and even online via the Zoo’s website:
